From the beginning of next year, receptions of citizens in ministries and departments, as well as mobile receptions in Uzbekistan must be held with a sign language interpreter, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.

The mandatory participation of a sign language interpreter applies to receptions of citizens in ministries, departments and state organizations, as well as to enterprises with a state share of more than 50%. This requirement, in accordance with the presidential decree on measures to create a favorable and unimpeded environment for persons with disabilities, will come into force on January 1, 2025.

For this, a deputy head will appear in all divisions of government agencies who will be responsible for creating a favorable and unimpeded environment for people with disabilities. In addition, one of the employees working with citizens’ appeals will be trained in sign language interpretation courses.

Let us recall that the buildings of government agencies and universities in Uzbekistan, as well as multi-story buildings, banks, medical institutions, private schools and universities are equipped with ramps for the convenience of people with special needs.
